Shon Matthews Inducted into the Texas EMS Hall of Honors

November 26th was a deeply meaningful day for our Texas LifeNet Division and a family that holds a special place in our hearts. At the Texas EMS Conference, the Texas Department of Health conducted its annual induction ceremony into the Texas EMS Hall of Honors, a tribute to EMS personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

This year, we are proud to share that Shon Matthews has been inducted into the Texas EMS Hall of Honors. Shon was a dedicated Paramedic and Operations Manager whose commitment to service and compassion for others left an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His exceptional service, leadership, and kindness were a source of inspiration to all who knew him.

In recognition of his legacy, a permanent plaque bearing his name will be displayed at the Texas Department of Health EMS central office in Austin—a testament to his unwavering dedication and the countless lives he impacted.

During the ceremony in Fort Worth, Shon’s family accepted the award on his behalf, honoring his life and contributions to the EMS community. Carrying forward his father’s legacy, Shon’s son, Derek Matthews, serves as a Paramedic with LifeNet in Texarkana, continuing the family’s tradition of service to others.

We are humbled to celebrate Shon’s life and contributions, and we stand in gratitude for his legacy, which will forever be a guiding light in our mission to serve. To the Matthews family, thank you for sharing Shon with us. His memory lives on in the lives he touched and the values he embodied.
